LAFAYETTE COLLEGE
NDI Video Control Room
Lafayette College in Easton, PA offers 23 NCAA Division I varsity sports with more than 600 student-athletes on campus. The Lafayette Sports Network (LSN) was created in 1997 as the primary marketing and promotional arm for Lafayette College Athletics and today the LSN will again lead the Patriot League in television coverage with more than 35 live television broadcasts and over 80 additional live streaming broadcast productions online. With this schedule, the school needed to come up with an easier way to allow for games and events to be broadcast from not only the on-campus facilities, but also from the more remote fields and stadiums.
Lafayette was already familiar with NewTek TriCaster technology so AVT worked with them to implement a complete NDI video production control room and portable case for Lafayette staff to take to remote locations. This new system allows for Lafayette to do a complete live video production from a remote site based out of the control room at the Kirby Sports Center located on the main campus, several miles down the road. The users in the newly upgraded control room are able to do a live video switch using the NewTek Tricaster and live replays using the NewTek 3Play of the content being shot at the remote site. The output of the live switch can also be live-streamed to the Lafayette Sports Network website directly from the TriCaster. With this new NDI based system, Lafayette has also set the stage for further expansion to produce and live stream other events, presentations and lectures throughout the campus.
