Temple University’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine is known for innovation, research, and preparing the next generation of medical leaders. To support its mission, Temple recognized the need to modernize AV technology across two of its key academic buildings the MERB Building and Kresge Hall. The goal was clear: deliver a consistent, reliable AV experience across classrooms, auditoriums, and collaborative learning spaces that faculty and students could count on every day.

The Objective

Temple needed a comprehensive AV integration that worked seamlessly in divisible classrooms, quad rooms, large auditoriums, conference rooms, and small group study areas. Each space had to function in multiple modes from individual classrooms to combined lecture halls with technology that adjusted instantly and intuitively. At the heart of the project was a simple but vital requirement: keep controls easy to use and the experience consistent for instructors, staff, and students.

AVT’s Solution

As a longtime trusted partner, Temple turned to AVT to deliver. Our team designed and implemented a full AV upgrade that balanced cutting-edge technology with ease of use. Highlights included:

  • Integrated podium systems with PCs, touch panels, microphones, webcams, and HDMI inputs for faculty flexibility.

  • Prebuilt AV racks, delivered and installed for faster deployment and consistent quality across rooms.

  • Divisible space programming, allowing rooms to be reconfigured with the push of a button whether for small seminars, multi-room lectures, or full auditorium sessions.

  • Hearing assistance, press feed outputs, and enhanced audio systems to make spaces more accessible and functional.

  • Key products from trusted vendors like Epson, Extron, AMX, Shure, ClearOne, Chief, and Williams AV ensured reliability across every room.

The Results

The AV refresh at the Katz School of Medicine has transformed how faculty teach and how students learn:

  • User Experience Elevated: Instructors can switch room layouts and technology modes instantly with intuitive touch panel presets — no technical expertise required.

  • Operational Efficiency: Standardized systems and prebuilt racks streamline operation and maintenance across multiple buildings.

  • Client Satisfaction: Temple continues to choose AVT because of our proven ability to deliver reliable solutions and maintain open, collaborative communication.

As Jared Williams, AV Systems Engineer at Temple University, put it:

“Temple University leads the way in so many different areas, and we are proud to work with AVT, who we believe is also leading the way in the AV revolution. We have a good relationship with AVT — they know what quality we expect, and they deliver every time.”

A Partnership That Works

At AVT, we know that successful AV integration is about more than technology — it’s about trust, consistency, and making life easier for the people who rely on these systems every day. Temple University’s Katz School of Medicine exemplifies how thoughtful AV design and seamless execution can create smarter classrooms and support excellence in education.
